Brad Raymond - Conductor/Educator
Brad Raymond has been sharing his love for the arts with others as both an educator and
performer for years. As a graduate of the DePaul University School of Music and the
Golden Apple Scholars of Illinois program, Brad was “well-groomed” for a career in music
education. After spending the latter two years of his college experience as the associate
conductor of the Archdiocesan Boy Choir of Chicago, Brad became the Director of Choral
programs and Comprehensive Musicianship at Lindblom College Preparatory High School.
Under Brad’s direction, the Lindblom vocal ensembles received many awards at both local
and national competitions.
In addition to balancing the demands of the Lindblom art department Brad also served as a
member of the esteemed All-City High School Chorus staff, a special honors chorus
composed of exceptional high-school students from across the Chicago-land area. In 2003,
Brad was honored to be named Associate Conductor of the All-City High School Chorus
and was later promoted to the Principal Conductor position the spring of 2004. Brad is the
youngest conductor to ever be named to that position in the history of the renowned program
that has served the students of Chicago for over fifty years.
Brad’s reputation as a music educator has afforded him several special opportunities to
share his love of music and teaching with others. His presentation; “Creative Warm-ups
and Rehearsal Techniques for the Young Singer” was one of the highlights of the 2005
NASPAAM national conference.
During this time Brad also joined the conducting staff of the internationally renowned
Chicago Children’s Choir when he was selected to be the director of the Austin
Neighborhood Choir, a position he held for one year before being chosen as the Principal
Conductor/Artistic Director of The Choir Academy, a progressive performing art’s charter
school. Under Brad’s leadership the Choir Academy students received dozens of awards,
citations and 1st place honors while performing for heads-of- state and participating in
numerous festivals and competitions across North America and overseas. The Choir
Academy drew critical praise for their extensive performance resume which includes
countless appearances on television news broadcasts, City of Chicago productions and the
NARAS Grammy award celebration as well as collaborations with some of today’s top
celebrities including; super-producer David Foster, American Idol’s Randy Jackson, rap
mega star Twista and an appearance on the almighty Oprah Winfrey show alongside
superstar diva, Mariah Carey.
