Brad Raymond Performance Bio.
Brad has been sharing his brawny baritone voice and acting prowess with contented
audiences for much of his life. Well-trained at the Sherwood Conservatory, the MERIT
music program, and Ne-Ke’s Youth Theater program, Brad has been a featured performer
in dozens of concerts and theater productions from his teenage years on. The training and
performance opportunities afforded Brad through these three esteemed artistic institutions,
ignited a passion for music and the stage that continued to blossom during his time as an
undergraduate at DePaul University.
While at DePaul, Brad continued his classical vocal training with world-renowned baritone
Philip Kraus and theatrical studies with famed director Harry Silverstein. Brad was a
featured soloist at dozens of university concerts and special events in addition to being cast
in lead roles in several DePaul Opera Theater productions, including The Magic Flute and
The Marriage of Figaro and Kurt Weill’s Three Penny Opera.
Beyond his performance studies at DePaul, Brad has been fortunate to have the
opportunity to perform at some of the most acclaimed performance venues in the Midwest
region, including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Hall and the Mackinaw Island Jazz
Festival. Brad also had the great honor of being a cast member in Lyric Opera of Chicago’s
world-premiere production of Amistad.
Brad’s stage credits also include productions at Chicago’s Light Opera Works’ Theater
and the Cerqua-Rivera Dance Theater Ensemble, a progressive theatrical dance ensemble
that combines dance, drama and live music. As a performance artist Brad has built a
collaborative relationship with composer/pianist Donald Neale, often premiering many of
his new works. He has also been a featured soloist with the Dennis Keith Band, all while
performing as a recital artist at various performance venues and churches across the
Chicago-land area.
Since his recent relocation to Georgia, Brad has appeared in productions at Atlanta Opera
and was featured in a production at Georgia’s beautiful Spivey Hall of Benjamin Britten’s
opera, Noah’s Flood as the title role of Noah. His Atlanta area stage credits include an
appearance in the Harvest ’09 Onion Man Production at Lionheart, a premiere of the new
work, In Lieu of Flowers and two successful productions of Lilies of the Field with the
Peachtree Players. Brad’s portrayal of Homer Smith in Lilies of the Field was adored by
audiences in both Duluth and Norcross and well-reviewed in the local press and on-line.
Brad was also well-received as Marcus Lycus in the Atlanta Lyric Theatre's production
of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.
Brad had the great pleasure of meeting world-renown poet Rita Dove while playing the part
of Scippio in the Essential Theatre’s production of her play; The Darker Face of the Earth.
He then went on to bring the celebrated children's book character Captain Braid
Beard to life in Theatre In The Square's How I Became A Pirate. He also brought another
beloved character from literature to life when he made his debut at the Tony Award-Winning
Alliance Theatre; appearing as Topper in their production of A Christmas Carol.
Brad is currently in preparation to begin production on a feature-length film with two of the
industry's most adored women. Check in later for further details.
